“A really popular exhibition!” – Alison George, Round Foundry Media Centre
Thanks to Sharon, Ali and everyone at Leeds’ Round Foundry for hosting my solo exhibition. Thanks to everyone for all the positive feedback.
From June 2010 to June 2011 I produced a series of digital images whilst at the Round Foundry Media Centre in Leeds, UK. This exhibition highlighted the wealth of innovative and experimental digital work created during my year here.
The exhibition also was an opportunity to view new pieces produced this year, 2012 – 100 years since Picasso made the break from Cézanne’s concept of ‘realisation’ with his painting Aficianado, the visual elements of colour and form in my new abstracted compositions are similarly arranged within the picture-space to produce an abstracted free association of images. Images in the RADIO ETHIOPIA series maintain the connection with my earlier «OBJETS PERDUS» existential form of digital art. Visual images derived from my photographs of elements in decay and decomposition are now married with images from my travels – Cuba, Sierra Leone, Prague, etc. – and broken up to be re-assembled into a free association of visual elements.

Once again thanks to Round Foundry Media Centre and to everyone for their positive feedback.

The « O B J E T S P E R D U S » series featured downstairs at the Round Foundry Media Centre produced over this time are best described as an existential form of digital art, making contemporary digital reference to some of the experimental techniques of avant-garde artists such as Man Ray (eg. solarisation, negative images and multiple exposures) and the philosophical underpinnings of the Dadaists and Surrealists.
U P S T A I R S – W O R K S I N P R O G R E S S . . .
Upstairs at the Round Foundry Media Centre are two series of digital art in progress.
2012 – 100 years since Picasso made the break from Cézanne’s concept of ‘realisation’ with his painting Aficianado, the visual elements of colour and form in my new abstracted compositions are similarly arranged within the picture-space to produce an abstracted free association of images. The NOR PISS YA photomontages featured here evoke emotions and responses from my time in Sierra Leone and with the people of the Kroo bay slum built on a rubbish dump.

2012 – 100 years since Picasso made the break from Cézanne’s concept of ‘realisation’ with his keynote painting Aficianado, the visual elements of colour and form in my new abstracted compositions are similarly arranged within the picture-space to produce an abstracted free association of images.
The new abstracted images maintain the connection with my earlier «OBJETS PERDUS» existential form of digital art – still making contemporary digital reference to some of the experimental techniques of avant-garde artists and to the philosophical underpinnings of the Dadaists and Surrealists.
Visual images derived from my photographs of elements in decay and decomposition are now married with images from my travels – Cuba, Sierra Leone, Prague – and broken up to be re-assembled into a free association of visual elements.

Soon it will be the phase of the Moon when people tune in……
moving stranger marks a move towards colour, yet retains the same philosophical underpinnings behind the 2011 Objets Perdus exhibition.
